Ingredients

  • 1.50 oz Tequila Don Julio Reposado
  • 0.30 oz buñuelo syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 dash chocolate mole bitters
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 2 star anise

Instructions

  1. For the buñuelo syrup, bring cinnamon, vanilla, and star anise to a boil in 2 cups of water on high heat for 10 minutes.
  2. Add sugar and stir until dissolved, then lower heat and let simmer for 1 minute.
  3. Strain the syrup into a large container, add lemon juice, and let it cool.
  4. For the cocktail, combine Tequila Don Julio Reposado, buñuelo syrup, Angostura bitters, and chocolate mole bitters into an old-fashioned glass with ice.
  5. Stir well and garnish with an orange and lemon twist.
