A sophisticated and refreshing cocktail that puts a modern spin on the classic appletini, combining apple eau-de-vie, verjus, and Lillet Blanc with a hint of pear eau-de-vie and malic acid, garnished with an edible apple blossom flower.
Ingredients
- 4 oz apple eau-de-vie (such as Neversink)
- 2 tsp malic acid
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 oz water
- 1 3/4 oz apple eau-de-vie (such as Neversink)
- 3/4 oz pear eau-de-vie (such as Clear Creek)
- 3/4 oz Lillet Blanc
- 3/4 tsp verjus (such as Wolffer Estate)
- 3/4 tsp malic acid eau-de-vie
- 3/4 tsp 2-to-1 simple syrup
- Edible apple blossom flower (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine apple eau-de-vie and malic acid; stir until the malic acid is fully dissolved.
- Make the simple syrup: Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes. Let it cool completely for about 30 minutes.
- In a cocktail mixing glass, pour the apple eau-de-vie, pear eau-de-vie, Lillet Blanc, verjus, malic acid eau-de-vie, and 2-to-1 simple syrup. Fill the glass nearly to the top with ice cubes.
- Stir the mixture until well combined and chilled, allowing the ice to slightly melt, for about 20 seconds.
- Strain the cocktail into a Nick and Nora cocktail glass.
- Garnish with an edible apple blossom flower.
