Bacon Bliss Old-Fashioned
A unique twist on the classic Old-Fashioned, the Bacon Bliss Old-Fashioned combines bacon-infused bourbon, maple syrup, and a hint of orange for a delightful and savory cocktail.
Ingredients
- 1.50 oz bacon-infused bourbon
- 1 oz maple simple syrup
- Squeeze of orange juice
- Dash of Angostura Bitters
- Ice
- Cooked bacon slice and orange rind, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the bacon-infused bourbon by adding approximately 1/2 cup melted bacon fat to 1 cup bourbon in a lidded jar. Seal, shake, and leave to infuse for four hours. Place in the freezer overnight, then remove and spoon off solidified fat. Strain the liquid through a coffee filter into a clean jar. Refrigerate, and it will last for up to a year.
- For the maple simple syrup, heat and combine 1 cup maple syrup and 1 cup water in a small pot. Allow it to cool.
- In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, combine the bacon-infused bourbon, maple simple syrup, and a squeeze of orange juice. Shake well.
- Strain the mixture into an ice-filled glass and add a couple of drops of Angostura Bitters.
- Garnish with a slice of cooked bacon fashioned into a rosette, held together with a cocktail skewer, and a thin slice of twisted orange rind.
