Ingredients
- 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 lime
- 1/3 cup blackberries
- 5-6 fresh basil leaves
- 5-6 fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- Champagne
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer until sugar is dissolved.
- Add blackberries, basil, and mint to the saucepan and continue to simmer for about five minutes or until blackberries have softened.
- Remove from heat and allow the herbs to steep in the mixture for an additional 30 minutes.
- Strain the syrup using a fine mesh sieve into a jar if storing for later, or into a pitcher for immediate use.
- Squeeze the lemon and lime into a pitcher or decanter.
- Add the blackberry herb syrup to the pitcher and mix.
- Add champagne directly into the pitcher or decanter, or allow guests to add syrup individually to their glasses of champagne.
