  • 1/4 cup pitted fresh cherries
  • 1/4 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice or store bought lemonade
  • 1 oz Berry Simple Syrup
  • 2 oz Whiskey (e.g., Maker's Mark)
  • 4-5 mint leaves
  • A couple of cherries and blackberries, pitted
  • A dash of cherry bitters (optional)
  • Mint leaf (optional)
  • Lemon twist (optional)


  1. In a small saucepan on medium-low heat, combine cherries, blackberries, water, and sugar.
  2. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  3. Increase the heat to medium and bring to a slight boil, stirring often, until the mixture thickens to a syrup consistency, about 15 minutes. Set aside.
  4. In a shaker, gently muddle cherries and blackberries with lemon juice or lemonade.
  5. Add the remaining ingredients to the shaker and fill it with ice.
  6. Gently shake and strain the liquid into a rocks glass filled with ice.
