Ingredients
- 0.50 oz unsalted butter, cubed
- 2 tbsp dark brown sugar
- 1 tbsp heavy cream
- 0.25 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 0.08 cup maple whiskey or bourbon
- 0.50 cup plain seltzer
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a small heavy-bottomed saucepan.
- Add the brown sugar and simmer, whisking constantly until smooth and slightly lighter in color.
- Whisk in the cream and continue to cook until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat, whisk in the vanilla and salt.
- In a separate saucepan, warm the whiskey (or bourbon) and seltzer until simmering.
- Whisk the whiskey and seltzer mixture into the butterscotch and watch the drink magically bubble and foam.
- Divide into a heatproof glass and serve immediately.
