Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces London Dry gin
- 1/2 ounce Cointreau
- 3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 heaping barspoon kumquat marmalade*
- Garnish: orange twist
- *Kumquat marmalade: 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup water, 2 cups kumquats (quartered), 1 star anise pod, 4 black peppercorns, pinch of saffron, 1 teaspoon grated ginger, 1 cinnamon stick, 2 cardamom pods.
Instructions
- In a shaker with ice, combine the London Dry gin, Cointreau, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and a heaping barspoon of kumquat marmalade.
- Shake the mixture until well-chilled.
- Fine-strain the cocktail into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with an orange twist.
- For the kumquat marmalade: In a small saucepan, simmer kumquats with sugar, water, and an array of spices until the liquid thickens. Cool before using.
