A decadent boozy coffee with Irish whiskey, brown sugar, freshly brewed black coffee, topped with a layer of chilled double cream and a touch of nutmeg.

Ingredients

  • 1.50 oz Irish whiskey (or blended scotch)
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 5-7 oz freshly brewed black coffee
  • 1.50-3 oz double cream, chilled
  • Nutmeg, a generous grating

Instructions

  1. Fill a heatproof glass with hot water and rinse out.
  2. Pour the whiskey into the glass, then add the sugar and mix until dissolved.
  3. Add the coffee and stir.
  4. Lightly whip the cream until slightly thickened.
  5. Slowly pour the cream over the back of a teaspoon into the glass so it floats on top of the coffee in a layer.
  6. Grate a little nutmeg on top and serve.
