Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 2/3 tablespoons 80-proof bourbon
  • 3/4 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine water, sugar, and salt in a microwave-safe dish, then microwave on HIGH for 3 minutes. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  2. Blend the sugar syrup and cranberries until smooth.
  3. Strain the mixture through a sieve lined with cheesecloth over a bowl to extract the liquid. Discard solids.
  4. Combine the cranberry mixture, bourbon, and lemon juice in a freezer-safe bowl, stirring well.
  5. Freeze the mixture overnight or until partially frozen.
  6. Scrape the mixture with a fork until slushy, then serve immediately.
