Cranberry Crush Cocktail
A refreshing and fruity cocktail with cranberries, lemon, orange, gin, and Sherry.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/4 lemon, cut into wedges
- 1/8 orange, sliced into thin rounds
- 1/4 cup plus 1 1/2 teaspoons London dry gin
- 1 tablespoon plus 1/2 teaspoon off-dry Sherry
- 1 mint sprig
- crushed ice
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring sugar and 3/4 cup water to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and refrigerate the remaining syrup for later use.
- Reheat the syrup almost to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium. Add cranberries and simmer until they just begin to burst, for about 2-3 minutes. Let the mixture cool in the syrup.
- In a large pitcher, combine 2 tablespoons of drained cranberries and 6 tablespoons of cranberry syrup. Add the lemon wedges and orange slices, then mash the fruit vigorously using a muddler or wooden spoon.
- Stir in the gin and Sherry, and let it steep for 5 minutes.
- Strain the mixture into a medium pitcher, then fill a glass with crushed ice. Pour half of the mixture into a cocktail shaker, fill it with ice, and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass, then top it with more crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and 3 cranberries. Repeat to make additional cocktails.
