Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cranberry juice
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled
  • 1.50 oz bourbon whiskey
  • 6 oz ginger beer
  • Candied ginger for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepot, smash the peeled ginger using the back of a knife.
  2. Add the smashed ginger and cranberry juice to the saucepot and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
  3. Reduce the heat and simmer the mixture gently for 20 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepot from heat, allow the infused cranberry juice to cool, and strain it through a fine mesh strainer to remove the ginger.
  5. Fill a whiskey glass with ice and pour in the reduced cranberry juice.
  6. Add the bourbon to the glass.
  7. Top the glass with ginger beer.
  8. Gently stir the cocktail with a spoon and garnish with candied ginger if desired.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
