Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 tablespoon granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 oz rum
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, sugar, and salt.
- In a saucepan, warm the milk over medium heat until it starts to bubble around the edges, stirring occasionally, but do not let it boil.
- Gradually pour the warmed milk into the egg mixture while whisking constantly until well combined.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it reaches 160°F, for about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a pitcher. Stir in the heavy cream, nutmeg, and vanilla.
- Chill the eggnog completely before serving. Once chilled, stir in the rum before serving.
