Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • ice
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz freshly brewed espresso coffee
  • 1/2 oz coffee liqueur (Kahlua)
  • 4 coffee beans (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Begin by preparing the sugar syrup. Place the caster sugar in a small pan over medium heat and add 3 1/2 tbsp of water. Stir and bring to a boil.
  2. Turn off the heat and allow the sugar syrup to cool. Chill a martini glass in the refrigerator.
  3. Once the sugar syrup has cooled, pour 1 tbsp into a cocktail shaker along with a handful of ice, the vodka, espresso, and coffee liqueur.
  4. Shake the mixture until the exterior of the shaker feels icy cold.
  5. Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass and garnish with coffee beans if desired.
