  • 6 oz fruity red wine (such as Grenache, Tempranillo or Pinot Noir)
  • 3 oz apple cider
  • 0.75 oz orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier)
  • 1/2 Honeycrisp apple, sliced
  • 1 cardamom pod, crushed
  • 1 whole clove
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise


  1. In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, apple cider, orange liqueur, sliced Honeycrisp apple, crushed cardamom pod, whole clove, cinnamon stick, and star anise.
  2. Stir the ingredients thoroughly to combine.
  3. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight.
  4. Fill a glass with ice, then pour the sangria over the ice.
  5. Garnish with additional apple slices, cinnamon stick, and star anise if desired.
