Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ounce rum
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg, sugar, and salt.
- Warm the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until bubbles form around the edges, stirring occasionally. Do not bring to a boil.
- Slowly pour the warmed milk into the egg mixture while whisking constantly until well combined.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, while whisking constantly, until it reaches 160°F, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a pitcher. Stir in the heavy cream, remaining milk, nutmeg, vanilla, and rum.
- Chill completely before serving.
