Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 oz rum

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the egg, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk until bubbles form around the edges.
  3. Slowly pour the warmed milk into the egg mixture while whisking constantly.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until it reaches 160°F, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and pour the mixture into a pitcher.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and rum.
