Ingredients
- 1 clementine
- 1/2 lemon
- 1/2 lime
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 fresh bay leaf
- 1/4 whole nutmeg, grated
- 1/2 vanilla bean
- 1 star anise
- 1 cup good red wine
Instructions
- In a pot, combine sugar, clementine, lemon and lime peel, and the juice of the clementine.
- Add cloves, cinnamon, bay leaf, and grated nutmeg.
- Split the vanilla bean and scrape the seeds out, then add both the seeds and the bean to the pot.
- Pour in 1 cup of wine and bring the mixture to a boil, then simmer for about 5 minutes until it turns into a syrup.
- Add the rest of the wine, heat to desired temperature, and keep warm for serving.
- Serve warm in a thick glass or a china tea cup.
