Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup ice
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1 ounce vodka
  • mint sprig for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water, then heat over medium heat while whisking constantly until the sugar dissolves. Let the sugar water cool to room temperature.
  2. In a blender, combine the sugar water, fresh lemon juice, ice, fresh mint leaves, and vodka.
  3. Pulse for a few seconds, then blend for 1 minute until the ice is thoroughly crushed and the drink reaches a thick slushy texture.
  4. Taste the drink, and add more sugar if desired, then blend again.
  5. Pour the drink into a cold glass and optionally garnish with a sprig of mint.
