Ingredients
- 1/2 oz unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1 tbsp light brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground allspice
- Pinch of ground cloves
- 1/2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1 oz spiced or dark rum
- 1 oz butter batter
- 8 oz boiling maple water or plain boiling water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Freshly grated nutmeg, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the butter batter by creaming together the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and maple syrup. Roll into a log and wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Store in the fridge.
- In a heat-proof glass or mug, add the maple syrup, spiced rum, and a hunk of butter batter.
- Fill halfway with boiling water and stir vigorously with the cinnamon stick to melt the butter and dissolve the sugars.
- Top with more boiling water and sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg.
