Ingredients
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- Seeds from 1/4 vanilla pod
- 1 tablespoon cacao nibs
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons freshly coarse-ground coffee
- 1 3/4 ounces Irish whiskey
- 1 1/2 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions
- Sterilize a reusable glass bottle and cap by boiling it in hot water.
- In a small saucepan, gently simmer the milk, vanilla seeds, and cacao nibs for 30 minutes.
- Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth-lined strainer, then return the liquid to the pan. Add sugar and salt, and gently simmer until reduced by about half.
- Add the coffee to the milk mixture, stir well, and let rest for 5 minutes. Strain the liquid and let it cool completely.
- Stir the whiskey into the milk mixture, then blend it with the cream until smooth.
- Pour the finished Irish cream into the sterilized bottle and refrigerate until chilled through.
