Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1.50 tbsp superfine sugar
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream, plus extra for garnish
  • 1/4 oz bourbon, preferably Maker's Mark
  • 1/8 oz dark rum, preferably Mount Gay
  • 1/8 oz Cognac, preferably Remy Martin Grand Cru
  • Freshly grated nutmeg, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks until they become thick and pale, then slowly beat in the sugar.
  2. Whisk in the milk and 1/2 cup of heavy cream.
  3. Mix in the bourbon, rum, and Cognac. Cover and refrigerate for up to one day.
  4. Just before serving, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold the whites into the eggnog.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold it into the eggnog. Alternatively, you can fold half the whipped cream into the eggnog and top with the remaining half.
  6. Sprinkle the eggnog with freshly grated nutmeg before serving.
