Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1.50 tbsp superfine sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup bourbon, preferably Maker's Mark
  • 1 tbsp dark rum, preferably Mount Gay
  • 1 tbsp Cognac, preferably Remy Martin Grand Cru
  • Freshly grated nutmeg, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat the egg yolks until thick and pale, then slowly beat in the sugar.
  2. Whisk in the milk and 1/2 cup of cream.
  3. Mix in the bourbon, rum, and Cognac, then cover and refrigerate for up to 1 day.
  4. Just before serving, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then fold them into the eggnog.
  5. Whisk the remaining 1/2 cup of cream until stiff peaks form, and fold it into the eggnog.
  6. Sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg before serving.
