Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 2 oz premium Kentucky Bourbon
  • 1/2 tablespoon mint syrup
  • 1 mint leaf
  • crushed ice

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, mix the sugar and water, then boil and stir for 5 minutes.
  2. Let the syrup cool for 15 minutes.
  3. Bruise the mint leaves and place them in a glass pitcher or jar.
  4. Pour the cooled syrup over the mint, cover tightly, and refrigerate overnight.
  5. Strain the syrup to remove the leaves.
  6. In a cocktail shaker, combine the bourbon, mint syrup, and 1/2 cup of crushed ice.
  7. Shake the mixture well and pour it into a small glass or julep cup.
  8. Garnish with a fresh mint leaf and serve with a short straw.
