Miso Umami Mary
A savory and umami-rich cocktail with a unique blend of Japanese and Western flavors, perfect for those seeking a twist on the classic Bloody Mary.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup shiro dashi
- 3/4 cup Chinese black vinegar
- 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon shichimi togarashi
- 1/4 cup white miso
- 1 tablespoon sriracha
- 1 1/2 teaspoons kombu bouillon powder
- 3/4 teaspoon kona wasabi powder
- 1/4 cup tomato juice
- 1 1/2 ounces vodka or mezcal
- Nori (dried seaweed) sheet, for garnish
Instructions
- In a blender, combine shiro dashi, Chinese black vinegar, shichimi togarashi, white miso, sriracha, kombu powder, and wasabi powder. Blend until smooth, for about 30 seconds.
- Transfer the mixture to a resealable container and refrigerate until ready to use.
- In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine tomato juice, vodka or mezcal, and 3 tablespoons of the miso Mary mix.
- Cover the shaker with its lid and shake well for about 15 seconds.
- Place a large, long ice cube in a highball glass.
- Strain the cocktail over the ice in the glass.
- Garnish with a nori sheet.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your unique Miso Umami Mary cocktail!
