Ingredients

  • 1.50 oz chai-infused rye whiskey
  • 1 oz apple cider
  • 3/4 oz cinnamon simple syrup
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1 pinch fresh grated nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Infuse the rye whiskey by mixing 1 tablespoon of loose chai tea leaves into a 750ml bottle of rye whiskey. Allow it to sit for several hours before straining out the tea and returning the whiskey to the bottle.
  2. Prepare the cinnamon simple syrup by combining 1 cinnamon stick, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of water in a pot. Warm the mixture on the stove until the sugar has dissolved, then refrigerate until cool.
  3. In a cocktail shaker over ice, combine the chai-infused rye whiskey, apple cider, cinnamon simple syrup, and lemon juice.
  4. Shake the mixture for 10-15 seconds.
  5. Pour the cocktail into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
  6. Garnish the drink with fresh grated nutmeg.
