Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz. rum
  • 1/2 oz. Campari
  • 1/2 oz. Averna
  • 3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. spiced syrup (see recipe below)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Spiced Syrup:
  • 4 cups water
  • 20 allspice berries
  • 10 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 cups sugar

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, allspice berries, cloves, and cinnamon.
  2. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 20 minutes.
  3. Slowly add sugar, stirring constantly until completely dissolved.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Strain the syrup into a bottle and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
  6. For the cocktail:
  7. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
  8. Shake to chill.
  9. Strain into a coupe glass.
