Ingredients
- 1 tbsp organic blonde cane sugar
- 1 tbsp boiling water
- 3 tbsp cubed green melon
- 2 tbsp thinly sliced cucumber
- 2 tbsp halved green table grapes
- 1/4 lime, thinly sliced
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- 1 sprig mint
- 1 sprig basil
- 6 oz Vinho Verde (or dry white or sparkling wine such as Prosecco), chilled
- 1/4 oz white rum
- ice
- 1 oz sparkling water
Instructions
- In a small bowl, stir together the sugar and boiling water until the sugar dissolves.
- In a large pitcher or jar, combine the cucumber, melon, grapes, lime slices, lime juice, mint, and basil.
- Pour in the Vinho Verde, rum, and simple syrup. Stir gently to combine.
- Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes or up to several hours.
- To serve, fill a glass with ice and pour in the sangria along with some of the fruit.
- Top off with sparkling water and garnish with mint and basil leaves.
