I'm always amazed at the transformative power of smoke in cocktails. The classic Manhattan takes on a whole new depth and sophistication with the addition of a rich, smoky flavor. Using a handheld smoker, we infuse this timeless cocktail with intense smokiness, creating a truly unique and sophisticated drinking experience.
Smoldering Smoked Manhattan
A classic Manhattan cocktail infused with rich, smoky flavors, creating a sophisticated and intense drinking experience.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces bourbon (preferably Maker's Mark)
- 1 ounce red vermouth
- 2 drops Angostura bitters
- 1 stemmed maraschino cherry
- Smoked ice (optional; see note below)
Instructions
- Fill a martini glass with ice to chill it.
- Combine the bourbon, vermouth, and bitters in a bar shaker, cover with plastic wrap, and use a smoking gun to infuse the mixture with smoke for 4 minutes. Repeat the smoking process once more.
- Add smoked ice cubes to the shaker and stir vigorously for 30 seconds.
- Strain the Manhattan into the chilled glass and garnish with the maraschino cherry.
