Ingredients

  • 2 ounces bourbon (preferably Maker's Mark)
  • 1 ounce red vermouth
  • 2 drops Angostura bitters
  • 1 stemmed maraschino cherry
  • Smoked ice (optional; see note below)

Instructions

  1. Fill a martini glass with ice to chill it.
  2. Combine the bourbon, vermouth, and bitters in a bar shaker, cover with plastic wrap, and use a smoking gun to infuse the mixture with smoke for 4 minutes. Repeat the smoking process once more.
  3. Add smoked ice cubes to the shaker and stir vigorously for 30 seconds.
  4. Strain the Manhattan into the chilled glass and garnish with the maraschino cherry.
