Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz white rum (such as Cruzan)
  • 1 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 3/4 oz Pierre Ferrand dry orange curaçao
  • 1/2 oz orgeat syrup
  • 1/4 oz absinthe or Herbsaint
  • 1/2 tsp homemade pumpkin spice mix
  • 4 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground dried Sichuan pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground star anise
  • Mint sprig, for garnish
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pumpkin spice mix by combining cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, Sichuan pepper, and star anise in a small container.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, mix the white rum, fresh lime juice, dry orange curaçao, orgeat syrup, absinthe, and homemade pumpkin spice mix. Fill the shaker with ice.
  3. Shake the mixture until well-chilled, then fine-strain it into a double old-fashioned glass filled with crushed ice.
  4. Sprinkle a pinch of pumpkin spice on top, garnish with a mint sprig, and serve.
