Spicy Habanero Cucumber Cooler
A unique and refreshing cocktail combining cucumber and habanero pepper for a spicy kick, perfect for summer gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1/4 habanero chile pepper
- 2 1/4 cups water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 medium English cucumber
- 1 1/4 cups Saint Germain liqueur
- 1 cup vodka
- Cucumber slices, fresh mint sprigs, and/or thinly sliced fresh ginger (optional)
Instructions
- Remove stem from habanero pepper and cut it into quarters.
- In a small saucepan, bring the pepper, water, and sugar to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
- Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let it cool completely.
- Coarsely chop the cucumber and blend it in a blender until smooth with the cooled sugar water.
- Strain the blended mixture using a fine mesh sieve into a glass bowl, pressing through the liquid.
- Discard any pulp left in the sieve and add Saint Germain and vodka to the strained cucumber liquid.
- To serve, fill cocktail glasses halfway with ice and pour about 6 ounces of the drink into each glass. Optionally, garnish with cucumber slices, fresh mint sprigs, and/or ginger slices.
