Spicy Summer Heatwave Cocktail
A refreshing and invigorating cocktail with a unique combination of cucumber and habanero pepper, perfect for any summer gathering.
Ingredients
- 1/4 habanero chile pepper
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 cucumber
- 1 1/2 ounce Saint Germain liqueur
- 1 ounce plain vodka
- Ice
- Cucumber slices, fresh mint sprigs, and/or thinly sliced fresh ginger (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Remove stem from habanero pepper and cut it into quarters.
- In a small saucepan, bring the pepper, water, and sugar to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely.
- Coarsely chop the cucumber and transfer it to a blender.
- Remove the pepper pieces and any seeds from the cooled sugar water using a slotted spoon; discard the pepper.
- Add the sugar water to the blender with the cucumber and blend until very smooth.
- Strain the blended mixture into a glass bowl using a fine mesh sieve, using a spoon to press through the liquid.
- Discard any pulp left in the sieve.
- Add Saint Germain and vodka to the strained cucumber liquid.
- To serve, fill a cocktail glass halfway with ice and add the drink.
- Garnish with cucumber slices, fresh mint sprigs, and/or ginger slices if desired.
