Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 spiced chai black tea bag (or plain black tea)
  • 1 strip of orange peel
  • 2-3 whole cloves
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 whole black peppercorns
  • 1/8 tsp freshly grated ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • A pinch of cardamom pods (optional)
  • 3/4 Tbsp light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 cup 1% milk (or milk of your choice)
  • 1 oz spiced rum
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau (or orange liqueur of your choice)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, tea bag, orange peel, spices, and brown sugar. Bring to a boil, then let it steep for 10-15 minutes. Strain the mixture using a fine mesh sieve, pressing on the tea bag, and discarding the solids.
  2. Warm the milk until simmering over low heat. Add the rum and orange liqueur, then blend until frothy using an immersion blender or regular blender.
  3. Garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired and serve warm.
