Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried lavender
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil (roughly chopped, plus more for garnish)
  • 1 1/2 - 2 tablespoons honey or coconut and/or granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ice

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, bring the dried lavender and 1 cup of water to a boil. If using coconut or granulated sugar, add it to the water as well. Remove from heat once boiling, add the basil, cover, and steep for 10 minutes.
  2. Squeeze the lemon juice into a tall glass pitcher and stir in the honey (if not added earlier). Add 1 cup of water and mix well.
  3. Once the basil has steeped, strain the mixture into the pitcher with the lemon juice. Stir well and taste. Adjust sweetness by adding water if it's too tart or honey if it's too sour, 1 tablespoon at a time. Chilling the lemonade in the fridge is recommended.
  4. To serve, pour the lemonade over a glass of crushed ice and garnish with lavender and basil. Enjoy!
