Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoon absinthe
- 2 ounces rye whiskey
- 1 teaspoon simple syrup
- 1/8 teaspoon Peychaud's bitters
- 1 lemon peel (2-3 inch piece, as garnish)
Instructions
- Chill an Old Fashioned glass and swirl the inside with absinthe, discarding any excess. Set aside.
- In a mixing glass, combine rye whiskey, simple syrup, and Peychaud's bitters. Fill the mixing glass three-quarters full of ice. Stir with a bar spoon for about 30 seconds until well chilled and fully combined.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass.
- Pinch the lemon peel over the drink, rub the rim of the glass with the peel, and garnish with the lemon peel.
