Texas Sunset Margarita

Ingredients

  • Water or lime wedge, for salted rim
  • Coarse sea salt, for salted rim
  • Freshly grated lime and orange zest, for salted rim
  • 2 ounces tequila (preferably reposado)
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur (preferably Cointreau or Grand Marnier)
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. To create a salted rim (optional), moisten the rim of the glass with water and then dip it into a mixture of coarse sea salt and zests, or rub a lime slice along the rim and dip it into the salt mixture. Set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, lime juice, orange juice, orange liqueur, simple syrup, and ice.
  3. Secure the top of the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-30 seconds.
  4. Strain the mixture into a serving glass filled with ice.
  5. Optionally, garnish with a lime wheel or orange slice before serving. Cheers!
