Ingredients

  • 1 egg (separated into yolk and white)
  • 2 tablespoons superfine sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/3 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/6 teaspoon grated nutmeg, plus more for garnish
  • 1/3 cup brandy
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat the egg yolk and gradually add 2 tablespoons of sugar until dissolved. Mix in the vanilla extract, nutmeg, and salt until the mixture becomes thick and pale yellow.
  2. Slowly incorporate the brandy, followed by the milk, and continue mixing until well combined. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
  3. Prior to serving, whip the egg white until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in the remaining sugar until soft peaks form again.
  4. Gently fold the egg whites into the chilled egg yolk mixture.
  5. Serve the eggnog in your preferred drinkware and sprinkle a dash of nutmeg on top for a festive finish.
