Ingredients
- 5 oz light-bodied red wine (such as Pinot Noir)
- 1 oz orange juice or apple juice
- 1/3 oz brandy
- 1/3 oz orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Grand Marnier)
- 1/4 oz simple syrup
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1/4 apple, thinly sliced or diced
- 1/4 green pear, thinly sliced or diced
- 1/4 grapefruit, de-seeded and thinly sliced or another sweet citrus
- 1 tbsp pomegranate arils or cranberries
- Rosemary, for garnish
Instructions
- In a pitcher, mix together the red wine, orange or apple juice, brandy, orange liqueur, and simple syrup.
- Add the cinnamon sticks and fruit to the pitcher, then gently stir to combine.
- Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least three hours, or ideally overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
- To serve, pour the winter sangria over ice in individual glasses.
- Gently roll a small sprig of rosemary between your hands to release the oils, and use it as a garnish for each glass.
