Winter Wonderland Sangria
A delightful and festive sangria that combines the richness of red wine with the sweetness of pomegranate juice, citrus, and spice, making it the perfect choice for winter gatherings.
Ingredients
- 3 oz medium-bodied red wine (Tempranillo or Grenache)
- 2 oz pomegranate juice
- 1/2 oz Cointreau
- 1/4 oz St Germain
- 1/4 oz spiced simple syrup
- 1 blood orange, juiced
- 1/2 small ripe pear, sliced
- 1/4 cup mixed frozen fruit (blackberries, raspberries, cranberries)
- Pomegranate arils for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, and star anise. Bring to a light boil, then simmer for 5-10 minutes. Let the syrup cool to room temperature.
- In a large bowl or pitcher, mix the wine, pomegranate juice, Cointreau, St Germain, and 1/4 cup of the spiced simple syrup.
- Add the orange juice, cinnamon stick, and star anise from the simple syrup to the wine mixture and mix well.
- Add some orange slices, sliced pear, and half of the mixed frozen fruit to the sangria.
- Cover the bowl or pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- When ready to serve, garnish with the remaining fruit and pomegranate arils. Pour into glasses and enjoy.
